I was 13 years old living in North Brook Street, Birmingham with my mum. We had to go up the road to the air raid shelter. My mum carried on and I was left behind. I got onto my knees and started to pray. My mum came back and grabbed me and took me down the shelter. In the shelter we sung. When we came out there were no lights and back at home on the radio Lord Haw Haw was frightening us with propaganda stories. I was scared but I had to go to bed
