Like thousands of others born in August 1918 I reported to the Labour Exchange in Coatbridge Lanarkshire.
I'm not sure of the date though other bits are still remembered.There were a few people in the street holding placards.Members of political parties opposed to the war.
Also outside there was publicity display aimed at recruiting men to GHQ Liaison Regiment naturally when I was asked what regiment I wouldear the e prefer I asked for the one advertised outside.ti Aircra
Some time after that I was ordered to report to
Carlisle. This would have been near the end of September 1939.
Then, about the 3rd of October a telegram arrived with new orders.
We moved south Had our Humber Scout Cars replaced by White Scout Cars,water proofed every thing and landed in Normandy a week or two after D-Day.
there was nothing for us to then our Squadron were attached to the American Army for the duration.
