Early in the war I remember we were bombed. There was no warning. My mother, sister and I were in a big bed downstairs in our house when a linen blind fell on our feet with all the broken glass in it. The front door was blown up the stairs, the ceiling lamp came down and we were trapped. My sister managed to get through the broken window and somehow we managed to get mother out, and I got out. It was raining I remember so we went in next door. We then went to live with my brother and his wife in Townsville Road we were there for 2 months. My brother had built an air raid shelter in the garden. Their daughter Anne was 6 months old and had a little bed to lay in. So for many nights we were down there. Even after all this my mother lived to be 92. I am 92 now.
We were living at Nortoft Road Bournemouth at the time of the trouble.
