World War 2 effected more than a whole generation, but over time memories diminish, details become clouded and hazy. People forget.
The big events of the War are all very well documented, from many angles. Individual recollections less so.
Bournemouth Libraries are providing opportunities for residents and visitors to share their memories of life during World War 2 and its aftermath. Whether they took part in a decisive battle on land, sea or air, helped on the home front in field or factory, were evacuees or bringing up the family at home, all these memories are valuable. All have stories which if not told and saved now, will soon be lost forever.
History repeats itself. By recording these memories we may be able to learn from past mistakes to make a more just and peaceful world.
