Italy 43/44 Monte Troccio. (Million Dollar Hill.)
I was a member of a small detachment from 107 SWS sent to the mountain area known to us as Million Dollar Hill.
We had barely erected our canvas when a few shells hit around us.
We were fortunate to escape them but some tents of the Indians nearby received a direct hit, they had only arrived a short time after us.
In the next few days one of the Sikhs would pay us a call each day offering to give us a shave/or a haircut using a only a cut throat razor.
He had a small tin of hot charcoal on which he would keep hot a small pot of water , and for a copper or so we would enjoy the luxury of a hot soapy shave, I wonder if any other of his customers
remember him?
Why Million Dollar hill? I don鈥檛 know. Jack Dandridge
