Told to Margaret Le Cras of the Guernsey Museum by Mrs Elliston nee Unsworth.
Her father took herself, mother, and grandparents to the boat to evacuate, landing at Weymouth where there was an air raid going on. Afterwards they went to the other grandparents in Wigan. Father had come to Guernsey with the Lancs regiment in 1923? That's how her parents had met.
Approx five months later a baby brother was born. They stayed for the duration of the war, worked in a cotton mill instead of the forces. Wages were a help to the family income.
Approx 1944/45 a knock on the door two men were there one was Mr William Enticott and the other Mr Noyon both from Guernsey in a fishing boat. Couldn't give us any information except to say our father was alright. Both left Guernsey in a small boat. Her father had given them the address.
