Firstly on arriving in Scotland we walked through the town and saw a field of proud men wearing 'Green berrets'. introduced ourselves and showed photo's of our Dad and explained our quest. These men, like our dad don't talk of the war time easily. You need to proove your interest, ask questions sincerely and hope for answers.much patience is needed, as some may not reply to letters as quickly as you would like. We also went to the Imperial War Museum [London] to view archive footage, news reels of the war, and looked at many a photogragh hoping to see our dad in them. still to find out which troop he belonged to. We know he was a signaler and have a photo of him in H.Q.troop in Worthing. People, once they know you are genuine are very helpful. We have been very lucky, gaining many friends along the way. Our next journey was to Normandy in June 2000. ''That's another story''
