My Uncle John was a POW in WW2. We don't know his regiment. The only record we have is a photograph of the family at home in Hounslow which was sent to him in the prison camp. The photograph has the Stalag number on the back, and an inscription in Russian. John was a linguist and used as an interpreter in the camp. He escaped 5 or 6 times, rumour is, just by walking out of the camp but was always brought back.
