I grew up in the Welsh Valleys in a village surrounded by mountains. Some bombs dropped on the mountains but did not affect us. However newport which was the nearest town about 10 miles away was heavily bombed because of the docks and armament factories. My great aunt and uncle lived in Newport and one day my great uncle came home from the night shift in the factory and went to bed to sleep when a bomb dropped and the roof came in all around him but did not hurt him. There was rubble everywhere in the streets and one day their dog brought a small limb into the house in his mouth.
