My lasting Memory of World War II is…hearing air raid sirens go off and all the family going into the cellar which was our shelter. Watching my father put on an ARP Tin Hat and long handled shovel to scoop up incendiary bombs. Waiting until the ‘all clear’ and for Dad to come home again.
