This story was submitted to the People鈥檚 War site by Dianne Burtrand of Chelmsford Library on behalf of J.Harvey and has been added to the site with her permission. The author fully understands the site鈥檚 terms and conditions.

We were dancing at about 9 o鈥檆lock when two London girls came in wearing fur coats. Although we told them where the cloakroom was they didn鈥檛 seem to want to use it. First one of the girls and then another got up to talk to the Army, Air force and Navy boys and then they went out. Later the police turned up and nobody was allowed to leave. Eventually when we were allowed to leave we were told that the girls had been arrested. Apparently they didn鈥檛 have anything on under their coats!
