My father, Geoffrey W Robinson, was with the BEF in 1940. He was a medical doctor and escaped at Dunkirk with a padre and a French liason officer. He wrote up his story as part of his autobigraphy which was published in 1995. He was born in 1896 so was one of the older people in the BEF. I can attach the relevant pages from his autobigraphy if you are interested and I have three photographs taken onboard the rescue ship in 1940. Are you interested in seeing the story and photographs?

Message 1 - Your father's autobiography

Posted on: 10 February 2004 by Helen

Dear sirrom

Thank you for contacting us about your father's autobiography. We would very much like to have your father's story on the site, although there may be a problem if it has already been published and is protected by copyright law. Was it self-published? If not, you will need to seek permission from the publishers to add part of it to the website. I must also add that you add it in sections if you want to submit more than 3,000 words. You can add as many sections as you like.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Best wishes,

Helen, WW2 Team

Dear Sirrom,
Interested to read about your father. was he in the 12th CCS based at The Chapeau Rouge in Rosendael, a suburb of Dunkirk?
My father was a surgical specialist in the unit. He lost out on the ballot and stayed with the wounded and was captured, spending the next 18 months as a POW.
The Unit will be featured in the 大象传媒 2 series to be shown on February 20th
