My lasting Memory of World War II is鈥 came home on leave for Christmas 1940. The funniest thing was I was walking about with a Tic Tac on the dog tracks the night of the first attack. Saturday night incendiary devices were going off left right and centre and Salford was ablaze and the air raid warden shouted at my friend to put his cigarette out.
