This story has been added to the People's War by Age Concern Salford on behalf of the the contributor with his permission. My lasting memory of the war is the ARP in October 1940 based at ARP post at Bexley Square, Salford Town Hall. The bomb landed in the square (East Market Street). I was trapped under rubble and managed to get out. Then I had to ride on a bike to Manchester Race course in the blackout to raise the alarm with ARP and all the way back when everything was ablaze.
