Fleas!

This landing ground with the name of Burg El Arab used to be a small bomber station. The station was actually built with four-gallon British petrol cans; each about twelve inches square eighteen inches high, filled with sand. The station had a cinema, a cookhouse, two dining mess areas, one for the officers and one for all the other ranks.
When we inspected this place, we found out it was infested with fleas. As we were about a mile away from this camp, during the night when it got cold, the fleas would migrate to us. So our main job during our time there was to pick the fleas out of our blankets.
