As told by Hilda Skillett

We had an Anderson shelter. We were bombed out. My (Hilda's) mum and dad went to Scotland, we went to stay with Jerry's sister at Horndon-on-Hill. We got bombed there by an incendiary. We once hid behind two trees from bombs. Another time we fell in a ditch.
We went to live in Dorset Road, Forest Gate. John went into the army. One day while John was away, while I was in the bath, a bomb blew all the water out of it, and I ran down the passage and the garden path naked, and the neighbours were all laughing at me.
