As told by Mary Thompson
My husband was killed in an air raid. Tessa's husband was captured by the Japanese. Another man fell in love with her, but she did not know if he (her husband) was alive or dead. We went to see a spiritualist medium, and she forecast that he would come back. She also forecast a second marriage for me, to a P.O.W in Germany and that he would be dressed in grey. I thought no more about it. But then I met a man who had been down a mine and was released by the Americans, who gave him grey clothes. He was at Arnhem, where the men coming down on parachutes were picked off like ducks as they came down. He was the last over the bridge and it was blown up behind him: he'd just driven over it. That was the man I married. He was taken to a punishment camp: there were Jews there too. A German doctor saved his injured leg. The doctor was being punished for listening to the 大象传媒: his son gave him and others, including his wife and daughters away: they starved to death in a concentration camp. If he ever saw his son again, he was going to kill him.
