In 1944 when my Mother was newly married she lived in Cornwall. My Father was a pilot in the RAF and away a lot on active service in Coastal Command. This meant my Mother was on her own quite a lot as she was a long way from her family in Heywood. My parents has just had their first child, my brother Gregory. Things like prams were very hard to come by because everything was rationed or needed coupons as well as spare cash. So my brother's pram was a primitive affair but it did the job. My Mother would proudly take out my brother in his pram for a walk through the village. I don't know what it was made of, but because of its shape, my Mother called it Hitler's coffin!
