In the Meadows area of Nottingham there was a machine gun tower. It was regularly fired at and in turn regularly fired at enemy aircraft. One day a German pilot’s plane came down. In the collision his head and arms had been separated from his body — it was an awful mess and a very sad sight, no matter what side you were on.

Message 1 - machine gun madness

Posted on: 13 August 2005 by critter592

Hello, your memory of this incident interests me; I am researching Wartime aircraft crashes in the Nottingham, Derbyshire and Leicestershire areas, and I was wondering if you or anyone else remembers roughly what date and where this aircraft came down?
Please do not hesitate to contact me either through these pages or my personal e-mail: Don2912@ntlworld.com

Thank you.
