In 1944 I was child of 11 years, on February 23 rd our family were all at home in Hampshire when the siren went off. As usual we had to take precautions, unfortunately before we had time to get to the shelter ,my father who was a fireman felt he had to go to report for duty as the planes were very close
Before he had time to get out of the back door a bomb landing in the back garden and unfortunately he was killed outright by the back door. My mother who was very badly injured had to go to hospital my brother and sister were both ok.
After this we were all sent to separate relations as no one had enough room to sleep us. Life was very hard without dad and even now lots of things still remind me of him. Lots of things also happened and memories are great.
