Mr. Sidney Terry
In 1943 my husband Sidney Terry was a British Naval Lieutenant. I was a secretary in an ammunition factory and met my husband in Belfast on my 20th birthday.
When VE day was announced I desperately wanted to see my husband, but because of celebrations, transport was delayed. In spite of this I managed to travel to his ship at Gairlochhead Scotland. I didn't know where his ship was docked but knew the free french had taken it over. I approached two french officers and asked them where the ship was docked, one turned out to be the Captain, who used a phone on the naval base to contact my husband, who was then sent over on a liberty boat.
My husband couldn't believe my luck on meeting the captain and getting such special treatment!
