In Whitehead Rd, Clifton, where I lived, we had a very big street party with food, music, and flags everywhere. Everyone was dancing, children singing.
No-one seemed to go to bed that night. A lovely party. Everyone was so happy. No more being frightened about what was going to happen next. It was a wonderful feeling — the war was over at last!
