Lowering clouds - - - dark Surrey evening
Flight path bombers bound for the capital
Steady thrumb of approaching planes
鈥淐over your lights!鈥 a bobby cried.

- - Mavis and I, cycling home down a winding lane
Enemy engines consume the enclosing darkness
- - Rising fear as we hide in the ditch
Waiting for the threat to pass
Fearful and trembling we shield our heads

A few miles away the focus is London.
