This photo was taken by my mother in our back garden on VE Day. She was so excited she had to get me with my neighbours in a photo. It must have been an era when lots of boys were born and few girls, cos all my playmates were boys I well remember. We still live in Alton (with the exception of Roy Pritchard, wearing a blue shirt, who now lives in Eastbourne).
We all got together 50 years on in 1995 and had this photo taken at a local pub - we couldn't take the photo in the same place as although I still live in the same house, the garden is different.
We have such vivid memories of things that happened in and around our town, when the Yanks and the Aussies were here.
