Aye, we were evacuated. Magherafelt, Maghera. We used to work for the farmers, you know? We used to work about the farm. Cutting turf, one thing and another.
We were only kids.
Swatragh. I remember bringing auld cattle in for the farmer. Bringing in for him.
I had Brothers and sisters. We were lucky [not to be split up].
You were only away a couple of weeks, then you were back again. Then you were evacuated again.
You’d go to different places. Maghera … Wherever the authorities put you. You could have been [anywhere].
There was 5 [in our family], there was 7 altogether but 2 wasn’t with us. You know?
