VE Day

I lived in Guildford and worked in the Royal Surrey Hospital.
I remember travelling to London on the 8 May to meet a friend. She says the train from Portsmouth was crowded with sailors. We went to Trafalgar Square and then on to Buckingham Palace and saw the King, Queen, Princesses and Winston Churchill come out onto the balcony at least five times. She said there was a rumour that the Princesses were amongst the crowd, but didn鈥檛 see them herself.
My friends and I stayed all day in London and well into the evening enjoying the celebrations and then spent the night with one of her friend鈥檚 relations .
Mrs Anne Milne
