We used to live at Solcum Cottage, not far from us was the Smith family at Solcum Farm and they had a lot of children — ( just like the Darling Buds of May on the T.V.)
Come harvest time Tony and myself would go and help at the farm. Come meal time Mum used to bang a large tin drum which hanged from the apple tree in the middle of the large garden to let us know it was meal time, because we was some distance away. There is a long wall from Wolverley to Cookley that still remains today but within these walls is a lot of happy times with my good friends at the American camp. Going to parties and jitter bugging.
