My husband was in the Air Force, I had a baby, just lucky to fall pregnant and he did not know anything about it for a whole year. The bombs were starting, so I thought there was no sense in me being here so I evacuated to Weston Super Mare. We stayed in a hotel for a while, eventually I came to a house and they took pity on me I remember staying that night. We got up in the morning but bugs were in the bed so there I was again looking for accommodation eventually I found a house, they were alone I begged them to take me in. I took over the house and I went into the kitchen and I started scrubbing, fed these people and we had the American soldiers there and we got friendly at the time and they came into our house and they were wonderful. I remember going to Bristol to have this pram. When the doodlebugs came that was when I went back.
