BETTY KELLAND

Lived on a family farm in Sidmouth, Higher Pinn Farm. Remembers incendiary bombs falling around house and in orchard. Police came and collected. No air raid shelter but would go out and lie under the hedge or get under big farmhouse table. Worked on the farm for father milking cows, cleaning out piggery. Worked with 3 sisters to run farm — hard work but didn’t really think about it.

Americans there, gave out silk stockings for us.
