Tiverton Museum of Mid-Devon Life is in partnership with the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s People's War and is actively involved in collecting World War 2 memories of local people.
Currently running at the Museum and touring at local libraries in the near future, is the Mid-Devon at War exhibition, funded by Home Front Recall. Entry to the exhibition is free and offers the chance to see local wartime objects, photographs, leaflets and personal memories from people living in Mid Devon during the wartime years.
Mid Devon played a vital role in World War 2. Homes were found for evacuees, Land Girls worked on the farms and Prisoner of War camps were based here along with thousands of American soldiers preparing for D-Day.
Tiverton Museum of Mid-Devon Life has collected many memories from local groups, care centre residents and local people. If you have any memories of Mid-Devon during World War 2 please contact us.
