Message 1 - trooperstan's girl

Posted on: 16 February 2005 by Trooper Tom Canning - WW2 Site Helper

Just remembered that chap who was in the 51st RTR - he is Geoff Prater - lives around the London area and still goes to the 48th RTR re-unions.
The 48th were in the 21st Tank Bde along with the 12th RTR and my old mob - the 145th RAC !

the Brigades were never too far apart and after the North African thingi - we finished up near Bone in Algeria and when we went to Italy were both looking after the 1st Canadian Division at Cassino - Liri Valley - and the Gothic Line and beyond until the Canadians went to Belgium and both Tank bdes were - "reorganised " !
Cheers

Message 2 - trooperstan's girl

Hello Tom

Please read my personal page for background information. You have already unwittingly helped me with my research into my fathers war record. I am reading a book called The Imperial War Museum Book of the War in Italy and you mentioned that the tank brigade fought with the Canadians and the route that you all took. Many thanks, this makes reading the book far more enlightening and also easier to earmark various battles etc.
I am in touch with Geoff and he is also being very helpful.
Regards Dee
