I was bombed out in Benthen Road, Hackney, by a land mine which came down on a parachute.
I had the ceiling falling on top of me as I climbed out. I pointed out to the Air Raid Wardens that two people were trapped down below, in an Anderson shelter. The Warden rescued them, but two people in Lloyd's Dairy were killed; the rest of my family survived.
In those days we received no counselling and no compensation, although I suffered from fits for the rest of my life.
