In 1943, the Salesian Superiors felt that with Moseley Hall running successfully that they could use Father Pat's expertise in this field for the benefit of the children of Malta who were very involved with the war and bombing there. Father Pat was therefore transferred to the Salesian College in Malta as Rector. He was able to do much good work there and also for children in war-tom Italy. As a result he had a private audience with Pope Pius XII and the Pope personally signed a Papal Blessing for me and my mother in recognition of our war effort. Needless to say this blessing is a great treasure to me.
Father Burke took over the post at Moseley Hall. He was an older priest but as everything by this time was "plain sailing", funds, etc., carried on as before.
Towards the end of the war, Mr. Stoddard decided to sell Moseley Hall to Mr. Bradshaw. Provision was made in the sale, however, that we were to be left at Moseley Hall - continuing rent free; until we were able to return to Guernsey.
We left Moseley Hall on July 25th, 1945, amongst much rejoicing and arrived back in Guernsey on July 26th. We usually try to tie in our re-union meetings as near as possible to that date.
