But anyway, I will tell you one or two things that happened in the Occupation. There was a young lad which I knew very well, he was about fourteen or fifteen, Alfred John Gallienne. He was killed in February 1943, he was ormering, his father was with him, and I think there were quite a few men, but I am not sure. I know Alfred John’s father was with him. He was injured, and they did not obey the Germans. The Germans had warned them not to go there, in the mines, but, they thought they could go. Guernsey people, very stubborn. It was a minefield they were in. There was notices warning them. Alfred John was young, fourteen or fifteen years old, he was a lovely chap, I knew him very well. But, you see, he paid the price for it, he wouldn’t listen. But …
