WHO IS IT by Norris Trout
On a Red Sea shore, on a track of sand
An ack ack gun site takes its stand
Manned by a section of high renown
Which never lets the battery down
There鈥檚 a chap in the section I'd like you to see
Who sports two stripes though once he had three
He stands 5ft 9 is as awkward as sin
And would perhaps be termed stout if he wasn't so thin
He works in command post where he thinks he is king
And telephonists on duty don鈥檛 whistle or sing
Lest they should disturb him and not let him reap
The thing he likes best of all is a good sleep
During afternoon rest, is seldom he fails
To work out a meter and straighten out nails
Though you may think the latter a curious trade
You can just put it down to the way he is made
But in spite of all this he is not a bad lad
And when the wars over I sure will be glad
To see him go home, his dear sweetheart to meet
And I hope far her sake she can stand sweaty feet.
