My brother and I were spotting planes in the sky when we saw a plane we argued as to whether it was a Spitfire or Hurricane. All of a sudden it turned around and headed towards our house and began to fire it's guns My brother and I froze not so our grandma who was sitting in her chair up she jumped and hid behind another chair The next day some A.R.P men came to collect any bullets they could find in the garden. What a lucky escape.. Dead in line with our house at the rear was a Ordnance Depot and a few years later I was shown a captured german target map and on it was our house. I am convinced that the pilot used our house as a point of fire to line up the depot which was full of ammo and explosives. I would not be telling you this tale today if that had gone up.
