I was born in 1908 so during ww2 I was in my thirties. During the blitz I used to take my mother and father to the Conservative Club on Eccles Rd to stay with me brother's children and his wife because he was in the fire brigade and while we were there we had a landmine that dropped in Castle Way just opposite the club and it killed three friends. I was very upset. We were in the cellar of the club basement when the bomb dropped and it was terrible
