Children with no Daddy, Mother with no son,
Girl with no big brother, no giggles at his fun.
Young lady with no sweetheart, love letters at an end,
The sixth-form boy is shattered, he's lost his one best friend.
A father's lost his partner, his business not the same,
Too old, there would be no one now, to carry on his name.
A Waaf has lost her sister, their home and Mum and Dad,
A direct hit, just rubble, of everything she had.
"Stiff upper lip" they say, as bombs rain down with no relief,
And ordinary people have to face the pain and grief.
A rationed egg for breakfast, some jam and bread for tea,
And if Mum queues all morning, liver dinner - ration free!
When will such wars be ended? When will men be left alone?
To live their lives with loved ones, instead of battle's drone?
