This is not about me but the above.
I have contributed the information on their behalf.
My father Cyril Kirk (5/22 Med Battery, 1st Medium Regt. Royal Artillery) and father-in-law James (Jim) Donnan (Royal Airforce, 12th and 550 Squadrons) both now deceased, fought in the 2nd world war.
As the 大象传媒 has created the opportunity to record and archive personal stories of WW2 I want to ensure that, posthumously, these two special fathers and good men have the opportunity to contribute to a piece of history.
The diaries of Cyril Kirk are presented exactly as written by my father at the time.
The wartime wedding is based on family recollections and extracts of letters we have.
The Last Flight of Lancaster B111 DV189 BQ-T2 was written by my father-in-law Jim Donnan.
I was privileged to join Jim on a trip to Germany on the 50th anniversary of his aircraft being shot down. We visited the crash site and met some of the German people who were there at the time. We also visted the Hannover war cemetry to remember Jim's comrades James BRYSON and Thomas ROXBY who were tragically killed in the crash.
The Stalag 1V B information is written by myself based on my conversations with Jim his wife Margaret and extracts from Jim's notes and our of course our historic return to the area.
