Millennium Volunteers is a government project, created by Tony Blair on January, 1999. The purpose of the MV is to encourage young people to be involved in their local communities, whilst gaining valuable skills for their future.
A national organisation, featured throughout the entire UK, the MV project focuses entirely on 16-24 year olds. But this isn't just another volunteering scheme. Instead of us choosing what you do, you choose what area you want to volunteer in. It's pretty much as simple as that! And for those volunteering already, it's a chance for them to gain recognition and accreditation for what they're doing already, plus other MV benefits!
Recognised as an interesting and effective method of youth volunteering, MV has enjoyed widespread success throughout Great Britain, and covers every major city in the country. By encouraging individual interests, the project hopes to build up the skills and experience necessary for employment and further education and of course, for personal satisfaction too!
To date, MV boasts well over 100,000 young adults who are volunteering across the country. We work with schools, colleges and universites, plus dozens of other voluntary and charitable organisations.
