My interest in this particular period of history, stems from the fact that my Uncle was a Lancaster rear gunner with 622 Squadron operating out of RAF Mildenhall from June 1944-January 1945. Over the last few years I have collated my Uncle's operational history after he lost all his records during a house move.I have received extensive help from ex squadron members and their willingness to help never ceases to amaze me. More recently I have commenced putting together an Operational history of the squadron as a tribute to the brave aircrews and to preserve the memories of the squadron for future generations to enjoy. I hope that my contribution to this site will enable me to further my research and contact other people with similar interests.
