I lived in a small coal mining township in South Yorkshire during WW2 and although I was only a child 5 to 10 years old 1939 to 1945 I have very vivid memories of that time. My extended family and myself were fortunate not to suffer any losses during that time inspite of having 5 uncles and one aunt on active service. I now live in the USA but would like to gather my memories and write some of them down.Over the next few weeks or perhaps months I will try to make a readable record of the highlights and perhaps the lowlights of that experience. The two places I lived in during WW2 were Askern (1 year) and Thurnscoe (4 years)both in South Yorkshire. Maybe there are other members who lived in the same area and we could pool our experience.
