´óÏó´«Ã½ NI’s exciting new project, the Big Yellow Bus, was launched on 23rd October 2003 in Cookstown. It travels around Northern Ireland, getting right into the heart of the country’s towns and villages, connecting with the local communities and providing access for adults to a range of digital technologies.
On board are five computers with internet access via broadband satellite, a digital camera, flatbed scanner, plasma screen, DAB, Freeview and a state-of-the-art broadcast studio. A dedicated team of ´óÏó´«Ã½ staff work alongside adult education providers to encourage over 16s who would not normally have access to this technology, to come on board and ‘have a go’. The environment is informal and relaxed and helps to de-mystify the technology.
During the month of November we will be travelling around community centres based in Belfast collecting your WW2 stories. This will be an opportunity for you to get your WW2 story published online or recorded on audio. So if you, a friend or a member of your family has a story about WW2 please contact a member of the Big Yellow Bus team as we will be visiting a community centre near you.
