My name is Jacqui Rees. I was a baby boomer born in 1947 but heard about WW2 from a mother who served in the WAAFs, a father in the RAF(617 squadron) and grandmother who looked after evacuees in Somerset. I am also involved with an oral history project. I have also posted extracts from my father in law's unpublished autobiography.
Leslie Winstone David Rees was born Aberdare, S. Wales in 1911. After two unsuccessful attempts to run away to sea he finally joined the Navy in 1926 as a boy seaman. When he retired in the 1970's he was a Lt. Navy recruiting officer in Wrexham. N.Wales. He died March 1986.
