I am 81 years old and have lived in Sheffield all my life.
I was called up in 1941 and sailed from Liverpool to North Africa on the SS Franconia. From Algiers I travelled to Italy through Naples and the aftermath of the the Battle of Monte Cassino up through Rome and Milan. In Milan I witnessed the hanging of the bodies of Mussolini and his mistress, along with his bodyguards. ( I have photos of this). I was then posted to Vienna in Austria after Germany surrended and spent VE day in Austria. My job in WWII was first as alorry driver and then an ambulance driver.
If anyone remembers me, I would love to hear from you.
Names I can remember are
Les Pendlebury (who I recently had a reunion with)
Arthur Gunner (driver from London)
