Glider Pilot

My Dad, Sydney Thomas Edmunds was a glider pilot during WW2 but never talked about it. My Mum said he lost many friends.
He joined The Welch Rgt in 1943 from the Metropolitan Police. He was sent for training to The Artists Rifles then OCTU in Tring and ended up as a 2nd Lieut in No1 Wing GPR. I have received all this from the Ministry Of Defence but now I want to know the more human details of his war.
