Having joined the RN in 1943 at the age of 17 1/2 and being sent to HMS Royal Arthur in Skegness which was the famous Butlins Holiday Camp. They obviously had to find something for me to do and so from then on it started with basic training.
The 2nd part was in the HMS Duke. Malvern for Gunnery etc, then transferred to the Fleet Air Arm HMS Daedelus, Leigh on Solent for training as a Photograpeher and moved to Ford near Bognor where the photograph was taken. Misbehaved (forgotten) and sent back to Daedelus, turned down the opportunity of traing as an Air Gunner so back to Royal Arthur and then on ot HMS Glendower in N Wales and transferred to DEMS as a Radar operator in Glasgow.
Not a very notable or illustrious navl career, but to me now at 79, very memorable.
