Born in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, the largest of the Potteries towns and the one that Arnold Bennett forgot to mention. Memories (All Happy despite the War) included Coal Picking, making Oatcakes, helping on a Smallholding and Father's Alotment, learning to Cook, Playing Football, Running Errands, Getting into Mischief. Wonderful Family Christmases between 1940 -47 when everyone shared what they had. Listening to the Wireless in the Air Raid Shelters. Tommy Handley and ITMA. More Football.
