I lived in Hampshire throughout WW2. A schoolboy all that time! Close to our home was Bordon army camp, occupied for most of the war by Canadian troops. They were popular because they gave us parties at Christmas and were generous with gum and chocolate. Ludshott Common (near Grayshott)was a popular place for crash landings of damaged aircraft, and was a great draw for the local kids. Dad was a farmer, and one of my jobs was to pick up pieces of bomb shrapnel from the fields following an air raid.(Fortunately all the bombs in our immediate area fell in open fields!)
