I have been a D Day researcher for the past ten years. My main interest is the Commandos on D Day (my father did Commando training at Achnacarry), the landing craft flotillas and the army cameramen and photographers who filmed the Normandy campaign. Through my contacts with veterans I have collected more than 100 eye witness accounts. The main research has been to situate precisely where each event related happened, discover exactly where each film was shot and each photo taken, identify people and units in photo and film and situate all this on D Day and contemporary maps. The area of research covers Sword, Juno and Gold, and the area east of the Orne held by the Commandos. Towns and villages include Ouistreham, St Aubin sur Mer, Colleville-Montgomery, Ouistreham, Amfreville, Sallenelles, Franceville. Interest overlaps to other units in these zones.
